K pop star, Lee Min Ho’s Chinese promotion event has been cancelled without notice.
According to Lee’s agency, Star Wood Entertainment on April 3, the opening event for Chinese ‘Shenme Xian’ that Lee planned to attend on April 2, has been cancelled due to local circumstances.
So many people crowded into the plaza the day before Lee’s arrival, so the host and the Public Security Bureau in China decided that it would be hard to hold the event.
A representative of the agency explains, “Some people among the 5,000 who gathered at the plaza even set up tents on the day before the event, and caused chaos.”
Shenme is a casual Chinese clothing brand which will open its flagship store at the main street of Xi’an. To celebrate its opening, they invited their company’s model Lee Min Ho and prepared a promotion event.
The representative added, “The employees were trapped in the store due to the crowd and couldn’t go out. 100 bodyguards from the host and 300 additional Public Security Officers were sent in but it was useless.”
He stated, “Lee stayed in the hotel the whole time and had to take a return flight that night, not being able to visit the site at all.”
In the video that was recorded at the hotel, Lee expressed his appreciation and said, “I’m so sad that I have to leave without having a chance to see you all. I promise you that I will come and see you next time.” The video that was played on the huge electronic display at the plaza received fervent responses from the fans.
Lee Min Ho will make his first appearance on a historical drama, SBS’s Faith that will start broadcasting on August.
