Goo Hye Sun and Seo In Guk Make Sweet Music

When singer and actor Seo in Guk's new album, "Laugh Then Cry," was released on April 11th, it quickly shot up the musical charts.
Making the album and music videos involved some collaboration. Producers Hwang Se Jun, Mellow Design and Kim Ji Hyang wrote the song and lyrics for the soul ballad that became the title track.
Actress Goo Hye Sun composed a song on the album and appears with Seo in the music video for the title song. Although Goo has composed songs before this is the first time she has done so for another artist.
They make an attractive couple in the romantic music video. There are plenty of sweet images of the seemingly happy pair before you realize their happiness is in the past. A lonely Seo is only remembering how much better his days were when Goo was in them. His life is going up in flames and his love interest is no longer around to put out the fire.
On the same day the album was released Seo made a comeback performance on the show M!Countdown. He has not had much time for his music lately as he has been focusing on his acting. He appeared as Yoon Yoon Jae in "Reply 1997" and "Yoo Seung Gi" in Rascal Sons.
Netizen reaction to the music video was positive on all counts. Fans thought Go Hye Sun looked stunning in the red lipstick she wore, that the singing was "soulful," and it was "perfection" to see the two actors together.
Goo, who is also a director and producer, has played part of an attractive couple before. She was Geum Jan Di opposite Lee Min Ho's Goo Jun Pyo in "Boys Over Flowers" and singer Go Eun Bi to composer Hong Jae Yi, played by Daniel Choi.
Fans may be surprised to learn that she started her career as a singer. She was originally meant to debut in a three-member girl group with 2NE1's Park Bom and Sandara Park but was advised to pursue acting instead of singing. She has also gone on to have both a singing and acting career. She covered several songs, then composed and released an album of New Age music called "Breath, as well as two singles.
Seo began his singing career when he won the talent contest on the show Superstar K. He had a small acting role in "Love Rain" but had his acting breakthrough in the series "Reply 1997. He also made his Japanese singing debut this year, with the release of the single "Fly Away."
Fans hope the couple will have more chances to collaborate in the future.

On April 9, Seo In Guk’s agency revealed a teaser clip of his new single, “Laugh, Then Cry,” to be released on April 11. In the teaser, he is paired off with Gu Hye Sun. The two of them filmed a lovely scene in which they act as if they are real lovers. Seo In Guk hugging Ku Hye Sun from behind especially catches attention. Then Seo expresses the feelings of a man who breaks up with a lover and reminisces about his happy days gone by. He realistically portrays the psychology of a man who has loved and lost.

[Article] Classic Kdrama 101: Boys Over Flowers.

Boys Over Flowers has been described as a gateway drama.

Cr. - KDramaStars

It would be hard to continue our series of Classic Kdrama 101, without mentioning the mega hit "Boys Over Flowers." While there may be few drama fans that missed this wildly popular series, it is possible.

So, just in case, you skipped the drama many fans call the "gateway drama" to a kdrama addiction, here's the lowdown on why it's so popular.

The first reason for its popularity is that it's a fun Cinderella story. Because the heroine, a poor hardworking girl, saves the life of a student, she gets to attend Shinhwa High School, a school for wealthy pampered kids. The entire student body at Shinhwa High is terrified of the four princes who pretty much run the school, the members of the rich, arrogant F4 (so called for being the Flower 4).

The appealing story is based on the best-selling manga, "Hana Yori Dango" and its sequel "Hana Yori Dango Returns," written by Kamio Yoko. The comic ran from 1992 to 2003. The story so struck a chord in readers that it was animated twice, made into two movies, a novel and three drama series. One of those series was set in Japan, while another became the popular Taiwanese series "Meteor Garden" and "Meteor Garden II." But fans say the best truest adaptation of the manga is the final Korean version.

Part of the story's appeal is the quirky fearless heroine Geum Jan Di, who personifies the "Fighting!" spirit. Played by Ku Hye Sun, she has no patience for the rich arrogant F4 leader, Goo Jyun Po, played by Lee Min Ho. She's loyal to her friends, hardworking and fights any perceived injustice. She also falls in love with the sensitive tortured Ji Hoo, played by SS501 member Kim Hyun Joong.

Which brings us to the next reason for watching "Boys Over Flowers." F4 was well cast. Although audiences were already familiar with Kim Hyun Joong, it was Lee Min Ho's breakout role and he does such a good job of acting in it that you don't even think he's attractive until he starts behaving like a decent human being. The other two members of F4 are also appealing. Kim Joon plays Song Woo Bin and Kim Beom plays So Yi Jung.

Not only did the show win the 45th Baeksang Awards but Lee Min Ho won Best New TV Actor award and Kim Hyun Joong won Most Popular TV Actor Award.

The KBS series ran for 25 episodes and got quite a few fans addicted to the love triangles, and Candy girl stories that are a staple in kdramas.
